Koh Samet Near Death Experience
Posted by Lance Powers

Sorry for the lack of posts over the weekend but I woke up in the hospital this morning on the small tropical island of Koh Samet. It all began late Saturday afternoon as a throng of Thai girls showed up at my door reminding me of my promise the previous evening to join them for the birthday party of the mistress of a prominent Rayong police officer. I knew there was an opportunity for some massive country side partying so I grabbed my gear and we jumped in the beamer for a 200km/hr jaunt to Rayong. What normally takes 3.5 hours took us just under 2 and as we rolled up the party was already in full swing.
There is nothing quite like partying with 25 cops in the country side. After quizzing me about Thai ganja and Nong Nat for a while, we all got to business and devoured a dozen bottles of Johnny Walker and a few kg's of crabs and shrimps. Then it hit me. Koh Samet is only a 10 minute boat ride away. I quickly convince the group that we should take to the sea and bring this whiskey circle to the island. With that one of the cops calls in a favour and we procure a speed boat at 2:00am. 30 minutes later we are on the beach greeted by a group of fire spinners and a soppy looking group of travel weary hippies gawking at us.
After carefully avoiding Koh Samet for the lasts 4 years I am very surprised with what I find here. First of all the party scene is very good near Silver Sand Beach and I would recommend you avoid the more touristy White Sands Beach altogether. The party spots start filling up around 11:00pm and the best 2 places are called 'The Naga Bar' and 'Silver Sand Bar'. Also of note is the complete lack of girly bars on the island so be sure to BYOP (bring your own pussy). Luckily my group of about 20 people is predominantly female. I did notice that there were a large number of decent looking farang girls here which I did my best to acquire but by this time I was completely wasted and my effort was in vain. Annoyingly all of my Thai friends were chomping at the bit for some hot white farang ass, and have spent the whole day discussing the proper tactics to employ. More on that later.
The roads in Koh Samet are not really roads at all. They are dirt tracks filled with water and giant holes. To say they are dangerous is a serious under statement. I knew as we headed out to party that I was in for trouble on the ride back and trouble is what I got. I don't remember much or how it happened but I was knocked out cold after being thrown a good 3-4 meters off my bike. All I remember is waking up in some dirty medical clinic with a massive whiskey hangover, a small concussion and a shitload of scrapes and bruises. This afternoon I rented an ATV which is not only much safer but a great deal more fun as well.
Anyway, I'm off to party. One of my better looking Thai friends is promising me some green brownies if I can manage to make some silly big boobed hippie girls party with us. I have him convinced that ganja, whiskey buckets and Thai food is the path to any farang girls heart in Thailand. Some how I don't think I am that far off.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was considering heading out to see the giant turtles near here but having been on my fair share of 500 baht 'day trips' with free lunch, I think I will opt for working on my tan instead.

I love Koh Samet! It's not far from Bangkok. Good relaxing place with white sand and beautiful sea.
