Technology | Do you have to have a pornstar name to send spam?
Email is a fantastic way to stay in touch and it really comes into its own when you're somewhere like Thailand. We all have friends and family back home. On top of that most farang in Thailand will have travelled about a bit. Add all the people you've met on your travels to all the people you meet while you're here in Thailand, and staying in touch can be quite an exercise.Continue reading "Do you have to have a pornstar name to send spam?"

Technology | One day I can have my girlfriend cloned, kewl!
Just think of the possibilities. Not just one but two, three or even more clones of my girlfriend. And I wouldn't even be doing anything wrong, would I? After all, I'm still with my girlfriend, right?Continue reading "One day I can have my girlfriend cloned, kewl!"

Technology | Tsunami videos present opportunities for scumbags
After insisting to put me on a speakerphone and blathering buzz-speak for about 15 minutes I finally get Paul to cut to the chase. He explains that he wants to host the tsunami videos and photos I and others are making available, and even better, he wants to do it for free. "hello? Free bandwidth you say Paul?" I get straight to the skinny and ask him how he is going to pay for this and the question is dodged via more techno blather from big Paul. Ok now I'm really curious. I work online. Like anyone in this business I search for schemes 24 hours/day. If there is a new scam running, I at least want to know what it is.Continue reading "Tsunami videos present opportunities for scumbags"

Technology | Bill you filthy slut!
Well I'm certain that Bill Gates must be an avid reader of this blog (yeah right) and I have already alerted the PB lawyer to ignore any cease and desist orders, so here goes. Apparently waaaay back in 1985 sexy Bill was asked to do a photo spread for Teen Beat Magazine. The actual caption for the desk shot (which is forever etched in my mind I might add) is: Bill Gates, CEO of Microsoft, reclines on his desk in his office soon after the release of Windows 1.0. 1985 Bellevue, Washington, USA. Don't be afraid to admit if you are turned on.Continue reading "Bill you filthy slut!"

Technology | Doom III hits the streets
Well if you do not know what Doom, iD software, or who the master John Carmack is, this article may not be very entertaining. Doom 3 is the latest installment from iD software, who yes brought us the original Doom back in 1988, as well as the Quake series of games in the 90's. They literally invented the first person shooter genre that inspired so many young teenagers to go on murder sprees and commit other random video game induced violence. Seriously though I knew on Aug 3rd that this sucker was pirated and available online, but at 3 CD's I knew my crappy ADSL line would be chugging for days trying to get this motha down. Panthip Plaza to the rescue!Continue reading "Doom III hits the streets"

Technology | ADSL in Thailand at Western Prices?
Working online in Thailand poses many difficult hurdles - the largest of which is a reliable and fast internet connection. When I got a letter from True (formerly TA) explaining that my 10,000 baht/month sluggish ADSL connection would be upgraded for free to a line twice as fast for 1,500 baht, I literally jumped out of my chair. Obviously recent government pressure and other lobbying has finally managed to loosen the CAT's (Communication Authority of Thailand) grip on the nations bandwidth. All I can really say it it's about freaking time.Continue reading "ADSL in Thailand at Western Prices?"
