The 411 on Lance Powers and PB
Posted by Lance Powers

This blog has been up for a few months now and I have yet to introduce myself. My name is Lance, I'm a 29 year old Canadian webdev'er, and I've been working in and around Asia since the late 1990's. Unfortunately I have been addicted to the party scene well before I arrived here, and since I am prone to landing myself in delicate situations I figured I had better document some of it for posterity and bragging rights. Many of the articles I write here are obscene and I would definitely categorize this website as adult orientated - "Go to bed Johnny!" After living full time in Bangkok for the last few years I seriously doubt that I will be picking up and moving any time soon and I hope some of my articles will illustrate why.
It is worth mentioning that I am by no stretch of the imagination a professional or even a novice class writer. I failed miserably most of my college classes that included creative writing assignments and dropped out after only a couple of semesters. Most of the articles I throw up here are written in a hurry, or while hung-over, and I will be first to admit that many of them really do suck balls. I think publishing these stories is more of a way to document my spiral into debauchery than anything else. I hope some of you can appreciate this. Many will not.
This afternoon PB launched an online photo gallery featuring many of the more popular areas of the Kingdom, including Bangkok, Samui, Pei Pei and Phuket. It took a lot of work to get online and is the largest Thailand photo gallery that I know of on the internet with more than 300 images, in an easy to navigate format. Most of the photos were taken between 2002-2004 and I plan on updating the gallery as I get more images. And yes of course there are some tasteful shots of go-go bar girls in the gallery, so you can go ahead and see what your wife or grilfriend has been up to. By all means if you have something to contribute drop me an email and I will get your stuff online as well.
Finally, I would like to add that these stories are a pain in the ass to come up with most days. If you think you can pump out a few simple Bangkok-centric articles a month please get in touch with me as I would more than likely be very happy to give you a shot writing here. If not the comment system is open on all of the articles and requires no registration whatsoever. PB is an open uncensored forum and everyone is encouraged to participate.
Enjoy and thanks for reading,
Lance

great photos, though I couldn't see my GF on any of them, ha. This one ( http://www.planetbangkok.com/gallery/gallery.html?spgmGal=Koh%20Samui&spgmPic=36&spgmFilters=#pic ) has me wondering though: is this some kind of slang I've missed? "Barfined a bungalo in Lamai and was stunned to find the going rate for long time was about half that in Bangkok". ;-)

I have lots of ideas about living here. Here's one:
I live in a moobharn-preuksah undetached housing estate with my Thai wife and our 9-month old son. Anyway, anytime the orangtan-like grandmothers in the soi are fixing to buy some lottery tickets, they always call out to my wife in the morning to find out what her dream was the night before. They're also even interested in what my dreams were! Everyone's dreams in the soi of the last week are discussed in great detail, the numerological nuance and significance carefully sifted until a range of lucky numbers are agreed upon. This is why Thais are so fussy about what lottery ticket numbers they will buy. When the numbers enevitably miss, everyone discusses what dream-signicant factors mustn't be overlooked next time.
A farang friend of mine who's lived here for 17 years had a dream one time about a bird shitting on his head. The dream was so vivid and unusual, his Thai wife's relatives immediately seized on "51" as being the winning number (5=bird, 1=head). The winning final number, however, was 52!

Hmmm interesting. Last night I dreamed I was doing the nasty with Nong Nat while watching her VCD. I wonder what my lucky lottery numbers are.
