Random Blather | Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide: Part 3
Who woulda thunk it?!! (See why I ain't teechina da eengleesh?) Only, like, a week and I'm already steaming in here with the oh-so-glorious Part 3 of this life-affirming guide to getting on in the the LoBS (yes, that's right, LoBS - more on that later, my adoring audience). What drives me to do this for free? As a great philosopher once said, "Don't ask questions, ladies, just enjoy the prices!". Ok, so he wasn't quite Plato, but "Ackney's very own Big Dave" was a remarkably astute piss-artist. First, let's recap. Before we worry about how to manage staying here,...Continue reading " Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide: Part 3"

Random Blather | Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide: Part 2
Apologies to the millions, ok thousands, I mean hundreds, well perhaps closer to dozens, of people around the world eagerly awaiting my much-belated follow-up to the first installment of Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide to Making it in Thailand. Ok, maybe it's a stretch to round the number 2 up to dozens (except at large accounting firms, apparently) but it makes me feel good so it's cool, ok? Aaaanyway, here's the first and likely most intelligent option for those interested in living in Thailand. More options to follow in the next installements. I promise they won't be so few...Continue reading " Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide: Part 2"

Random Blather | Back in Bangers
After a short hiatus I have decided to finally make a post. I have actually just returned to the ‘Kok after a very well deserved summer vacation in western Canada. Aside from being strip searched in the airport in Vancouver and being completely screwed over by the incompetent Thai embassy in the same city (these morons tried to tell me you don't need to leave Thailand every 90 days when you are on a Non-Immigrant B visa) - I had a pretty sweet time. After not returning home for over two years getting back to clean air and actually being able to see the stars was a nice change. Endless reefer and queer marriage to boot.Continue reading "Back in Bangers"

Random Blather | Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide to Making it in Thailand
In conjunction with my handy pocket-size Rules for Success, I decided to put together a little manual to making it in Thailand. That title kind of covers two areas: how to have enough money to live in Thailand for extended periods and how to get laid. The latter is easy: arrive. That's right. Simply by setting foot in Thailand, you probably improve your chances of enjoying more sex than you can shake a stick at, so to speak, by a factor of, like, a gazillion. You don't need to be handsome. You don't need to be fit. You don't need...Continue reading "Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide to Making it in Thailand"

Random Blather | Land of Smiles, indeed!
The last few days have provided me with a few of those "where else but Thailand?" moments. It all kicked off on Friday night, out for a few beers with an old mate. Where else but Thailand can you enjoy a top-quality covers band, complete with a six-foot ladyboy who's stacked like Tina Turner and belting out Whitney Houston and Frank Sinatra standards with equal aplomb? Where else but Thailand can you be waiting to catch a taxi when you see not one, but two military police, in full uniform including knob-end helmets, blast down a busy major road at...Continue reading "Land of Smiles, indeed!"

Random Blather | Of course there are higher life forms out there.
But do you really think they're stupid enough let us know about them? Honestly, say you're smart enough to bend space and time, travel across multiple dimensions and end up in "our" galaxy. So you fire up the "CloakME™ device so pesky varmints (like humans) don't bother you and float on down for a closer look. Let's just say you reckon what you find is humourous or even, God forbid, interesting enough to warrant closer inspection and, after mulling over the war, disease, perversity, selfishness, gluttony, ignorance and people like Steven Erik Prowler, do you REALLY think what we laughingly...Continue reading "Of course there are higher life forms out there."

Random Blather | My 1st Grade School Friend is a Gay Sex Crack Whore.
One of my oldest school friends is heading for an appalling end, it seems. I first met the man I'll call Bill in the first grade. I think I can only recall two school mates from back then and Bill is one of them. Bill was always bright, funny, interesting and kind. When I moved away from my home town for two years of my childhood, many formerly close relationships with school friends were lost. Bill and I never "hung out" after my return but it was a small enough community that he was always around. Later, I found out...Continue reading "My 1st Grade School Friend is a Gay Sex Crack Whore."

Random Blather | Bangkok Speed Dating
Thanks to Electric John for emailing this in. Whoa Bangkok speed dating! Just what the doctor ordered. As the BNOW (Bangkok Network of Women) has recently announced there will be a speed dating event taking place in Bangkok on May 25th. Yeah okay aside from giggling at the BNOW the obvious question is: 'What the hell do I need a dating service for? After all I have women allover my jock.' Simple! All proceeds will be donated to soidogrescue.org - a somewhat interesting charity choice for the BNOW. Haha just kidding ladies.Continue reading "Bangkok Speed Dating"

Random Blather | The way I get by
The 2005 Indie rock scene is in full swing and this is turning out to be a stellar year so far. Dwarves and buffalos can't bring this cat down, not when you're listening to the new Spoon album. Anyway, I thought I would pass on a few lists for all you Soulseekers and Bit-Torrent fiends.Continue reading "The way I get by"

Random Blather | Salasar with Thai Vignette Dressing.
So there I was on the BTS at just after nine in the morning. Kind of "peak time", both for passenger numbers and the chance to..... I mean "risk of having to" squeeze in there with a bunch of people. Pretty, young, female, Thai people.Continue reading "Salasar with Thai Vignette Dressing."
