American nabbed with 500 photos of naked Thai boys

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thai police have arrested a 56-year-old American teacher after 500 photographs of naked teenagers were allegedly found during a raid of his Bangkok apartment, police said on Tuesday.
Police said the man, who they named as Steven Erik Prowler, had lived in Thailand for six years and taught English at a government school in Bangkok.
"During the raid, we found two teenagers who said they just had oral sex with him," Colonel Surat Udomrat told Reuters. The two were aged 15 and 17, police said.
In the apartment police said they found 500 postcard-sized photos of naked male teenagers, mostly Thais aged between 11 and 17. They also found journals detailing his alleged sexual exploits.
Police said they planned to file charges of sexually abusing underaged youths against the man later this week.
"Although the maximum penalty is 10 years in jail for each count, he has repeated his crime with hundreds of victims and these crimes would add up," Lt. Colonel Dhamnoon Munkong said.
The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok declined to comment on the case.

In an ironic example of the "you do what your name says" law of the universe, prowler is defined as "someone who moves around quietly in a place trying not to be seen or heard, such as when hunting". Only took them six years to catch this guy.
Nice to see so many facts about this story spread around the globe. I think I have read now that the boys were, variously, 14 and 16, 15 and 16, and 16 and 17.
Apparently, he regularly paid the boys 250 baht for sex. He was found with them in his room at four in the morning. What do such boys' parents ask themselves about the whereabouts of their children at 4am? Could it be.... nothing?
One report I read said he kept an album of pubic hair clippings and autographs of all the boys he's been with. True class. I wonder if they'll be smart enough to use the album, the boys concerned and a little bit of other evidence to catch all the other sickos out there? Better yet, give me the job (and a bucket and mop for the brain matter), I'll clean the place up.

Seems like there's a predator arrested every month. I wonder how many of these twisted savages are lurking around Southeast Asia as we speak.

I fear there are more preditors than we can imagine. As an american I'll comment where the U.S. Embassy declined to comment. Take him out and shoot him like a dog.
