Further to the Speedo Menace

Speedos wearers HATE OUR WAY of life and I for one am not willing to sit around while that way of life is attacked by those who would see us live in a hell of belligerant, bubble-bellied, balding, balsack-brandishing beach-bums whose only objective in life is to leave women in shock, children in tears and marine life diving for the safety of the deep!

Bangkok Coup Videos

It would appear that Thailand has fallen under a monarch sanctioned military coup around 11:00 PM last night. Apparently Prime Minister Thaksin Shiniwatra decided to sack one of his top generals during a video conference as the PM was getting ready to address the UN security council in New York. Woooops.

Da Vinci Code Banned in Thailand

Yep it’s true. THE DA VINCI CODE will be censored in Thailand after the Police Registration Division succumbed to pressure from local Christians. According to Reuters they are gonna hack off the last 10 minutes. I would say I am surprised by this but the ewoks have stopped surprising me with their shenanigans many years ago - therefore I blame the Christians.

Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide: Part 3

Who woulda thunk it?!! (See why I ain't teechina da eengleesh?) Only, like, a week and I'm already steaming in here with the oh-so-glorious Part 3 of this life-affirming guide to getting on in the the LoBS (yes, that's right, LoBS - more on that later, my adoring audience). What drives me to do this for free? As a great philosopher once said, "Don't ask questions, ladies, just enjoy the prices!". Ok, so he wasn't quite Plato, but "Ackney's very own Big Dave" was a remarkably astute piss-artist. First, let's recap. Before we worry about how to manage staying here,...

Ok I did not write the following but I found it on a forum written by, I assume, someone connected with the club. If you remember Faith club GLow has the same location. Can't really say if it will be the same experience but I will give them a try tonight.

Goldie show in Bangkok tonight

From the big screen to the Bangkok freak scene, Goldie brings his drum & bass flavour to Astra in RCA tonight. Who the hell is Goldie? You may remember him in hit films Snatch (thief) or Die Another Day (Bond bad guy). Promised tonight is 3 solid hours of good electronic music with entrance fee set at 500b, which includes a drink.

Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide: Part 2

Apologies to the millions, ok thousands, I mean hundreds, well perhaps closer to dozens, of people around the world eagerly awaiting my much-belated follow-up to the first installment of Rick Salasar's Handy and Indisputable Guide to Making it in Thailand. Ok, maybe it's a stretch to round the number 2 up to dozens (except at large accounting firms, apparently) but it makes me feel good so it's cool, ok? Aaaanyway, here's the first and likely most intelligent option for those interested in living in Thailand. More options to follow in the next installements. I promise they won't be so few...

Foreigner Stabbed to Death by Youth Gang

Over the last few months I have been hearing scattered stories of young gangs of motorbikers attacking seemingly at random innocent Bangkok civilians, normally late at night. In many cases I am told that foreigners are being attacked more often than Thais, but this is certainly not always the case. Most of the time several youths savagely beat their victim with sticks and machetes.

Back in Bangers

After a short hiatus I have decided to finally make a post. I have actually just returned to the ‘Kok after a very well deserved summer vacation in western Canada. Aside from being strip searched in the airport in Vancouver and being completely screwed over by the incompetent Thai embassy in the same city (these morons tried to tell me you don't need to leave Thailand every 90 days when you are on a Non-Immigrant B visa) - I had a pretty sweet time. After not returning home for over two years getting back to clean air and actually being able to see the stars was a nice change. Endless reefer and queer marriage to boot.

Largest fish ever caught

The giant catfish, believed to be the largest freshwater fish ever found, was caught along the Mekong River, home to more species of massive fish than any river on Earth.

"We've now confirmed that this catfish is the current record holder, an astonishing find," Dr Zeb Hogan, a WWF Conservation Science Fellow, said in the joint statement.
