It would appear that Thailand has fallen under a monarch sanctioned military coup around 11:00 PM last night. Apparently Prime Minister Thaksin Shiniwatra decided to sack one of his top generals during a video conference as the PM was getting ready to address the UN security council in New York. Woooops.

News | Largest fish ever caught

The giant catfish, believed to be the largest freshwater fish ever found, was caught along the Mekong River, home to more species of massive fish than any river on Earth. "We've now confirmed that this catfish is the current record holder, an astonishing find," Dr Zeb Hogan, a WWF Conservation Science Fellow, said in the joint statement.

University hazing sex-pic sparks witch hunt The Education Ministry has ordered an investigation into the source of photographs of students performing simulated oral sex at a university hazing. Thosaporn Serirak, adviser to the education minister, yesterday showed the photos to the press. CHICAGO (Reuters) - The foundation representing pop artist Andy Warhol filed suit on Wednesday against a company selling unlicensed reproductions of his iconic works. The Andy Warhol Foundation is seeking an undetermined sum, plus attorneys' fees, from Arts-studio.com, according to the suit filed in federal court in Chicago. On its Web site, Arts-studio.com advertises "museum-quality copies of famous masterpieces painted by our Thai artists totally by hand." News | Miss Canada Is Crowned 2005 Miss Universe

Miss Canada, Natalie Glebova, was crowned Miss Universe in the 54th annual pageant held in the Thai capital of Bangkok. The brunette from Toronto was chosen over Miss Puerto Rico Cynthia Olavarria. The two were among five contestants selected to answer questions onstage in the final round of the competition. The others were from Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

News | Thai Police Officer Sentenced to Life

A Thai police sergeant has been convicted of killing two British backpackers and jailed for life. Adam Lloyd, 25, from Torquay, and Vanessa Arscott, 23, from Ashburton, Devon, died near Kanchanaburi, 80 miles west of Bangkok, in September 2003.

News | The Greatest Phallusy in Horse Racing

In the last few days, there have been reports in the news about racehorses in Italy being doped with performance enhancing drugs, including Viagra. Leaving aside the obvious worries for the safety of the grooms or questions about whether all parts of these horses are measured in "hands", it seems to me that increasing a stallion's drag coefficient ain't exactly the way to get him around a track quicker. I'm not talking about the literal night"mare" created by feeding Viagra to a stallion in drag. No doubt, somebody out there got their PhD in Mechanical Engineering based on a doctorate...

News | American nabbed with 500 photos of naked Thai boys

Thai police have arrested a 56-year-old American teacher after 500 photographs of naked teenagers were allegedly found during a raid of his Bangkok apartment, police said on Tuesday. Police said the man, who they named as Steven Erik Prowler, had lived in Thailand for six years and taught English at a government school in Bangkok.
